Frequently asked questions
Should I use a positive or negative subtitle delay?
Positive delays subtitles; negative moves them earlier. If subtitles are 2 seconds late, enter -2 seconds.
How do I find the offset needed to sync subtitles?
Compare a spoken line with its subtitle, estimate the difference, then check the downloaded file in your player. This tool does not analyse audio or video.
Can a subtitle delay adjuster fix growing drift?
No. A fixed offset corrects a constant delay. Growing drift needs a different correction method.
What happens to subtitles shifted before zero?
Cues crossing zero start at 0. Cues ending at or before zero are removed and counted. No download is offered if nothing remains.
Will shifting change text, line breaks or overlapping cues?
Text, line breaks and overlaps are retained. Inline VTT timestamps also shift; unsafe changes block export.
Are files uploaded, and can I shift subtitles on my phone?
No upload. On a phone with JavaScript enabled, choose a file or paste subtitles. No sign-up is required.
